At about 6:30 pm on this day 10 years ago, I married Veronica. We were so in love with each other… sharing so many of the same passions that we often talked for hours into the evening about everything from people to dreams to missions to Calvinism…
Even more importantly, we knew that God had led us to one another.
Our 1st years of marriage were not flawless, by any means… as you would imagine with the union of any 2 selfish people into 1 life… but God taught us in those years really to love each other. He taught us what it means to be loved selflessly and to love selflessly (I’m still not good at that one). He used our marriage to teach both us the delights of His love as well as the patience He shows to us in our marriage to Him.
I can confidently say on this day that the greatest earthly gift to me in my ministry is Veronica. There are many sacrifices she makes so that I can do what I do… sacrifices which, for the most part, go unnoticed.
I see so much of Christ in her… both in how she bears the weights and inconveniences of ministry without complaint, and in how she loves me most when I least deserve it.
Veronica is my “secret” in ministry — the unnoticed earthly strength and ability behind what I do.
I could not imagine a better life partner and a better mother for my children, and on this day I stop to think of the incredible goodness of God given to me in her. I love you, Babe!

How beautiful that you not only put this in writing but you do so publically! What a gift to Veronica and hopefully an inspiration to other husbands! Since becoming a member of The Summit, I have always had a heart-piercing desire to pray for your family but especially for Veronica (for all the reasons you listed above but especially that God would continue to strengthen her to support you in her obviously selfless manner and to continue to mommy those beautiful children in the godly manner she does!)
