The Burden and Excitement of Living with a Calling
May 24 | Pastor J.D. | 2 Comments |“It is easier to serve God without a vision, easier to work for God without a call, because then you are not bothered by what God requires; common sense is your guide, veneered over with Christian sentiment. You will be more prosperous and successful, more leisure-hearted, if you never realize the call of God. But if once you receive a commission from Jesus Christ, the memory of what God wants will always come like a goad; you will no longer be able to work for Him on the common-sense basis.” Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest
Here’s an encouragement for pastors… don’t let your work as a pastor degrade into a job. Growing the church, increasing your salary, gaining a little more influence… Dream Spirit-filled dreams about what God wants to do in the world.
If you’ve never received that, press into God until He gives it to you; or, if it has waned in you, press in to God until you receive it again.

That is so convicting! You don’t have to be a pastor for that quote to hit home.
